Hi everyone, I'm a new member ... Can anyone help me understand if the 2011 white SG I would like to buy is a fake or original ??? The owner no longer has the case, but it doesn't matter, I noticed that the truss road cover has the standard writing, but on all the standards I see around there is not. Thanks
First, welcome ETSG Forum ! This is a real 2011 SG Standard, the trussrod cover come from a Les Paul.
Also, Papa, does it seem that we sure have been getting a lot of.... Hey I am new here, What do you think of this SG I might buy? Is it fake or real, posts?
Of course you should know them well or not?? I am a neophyte for the SG. There are many fakes around and throwing away 1000 euros is never nice. Thanks
Salva, not picking on you and glad to help anyone looking to do exactly as you. Avoid counterfeits at the Real deal prices. It is still advisable to look inside the control cavity, under the pickups and of course to see the back of the head stock at the exact serial number, before committing to buy.
From what I can see from the photos it looks legit. The TRC is aftermarket but everything else looks right. As mentioned, take a look inside the control cavity. Best is to play first, my preference is to meet a music store and have them look it over as well. Not always doable I understand. Especially in Covid times. I would just ask for additional photos of the control cavity, post them here and we can comment. Nice looking guitar
I just have a doubt looking at the certificate, the date and the serial number match according to you ?? From The Guitar Dater Project website this guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA on October 13th, 2011 Production Number: 6, why is the date different ?? the model that is written is true ?? Thanks again guys Salva
cos it takes about 6 months from production to when it actually gets shipped out to stores...which is when its checked.
The headstocks get the serial number stamp before the guitar is fully assembled or finished. Date on the card is the inspection date, much later after the stamping of the serial number on the headstock.
The only way unless the electronics were swapped is to look under the pickups, look under the cover and at the controls in the cavity on the back. Pictures or actual in person check this.
