I saw this one, serial starting with J and read somewhere it meant Japan Terada.
Yeah, I am not sure Epiphone builds any guitars in Japan anymore. My Epiphone Les Paul Special was built in Indonesia. In think Epiphone builds all their solid bodies in Indonesia or China although I think their Casinos and other hollow body guitars are still made in South Korea.Jakarta, Indonesia
That dater website is wrong one time out of two for Epiphone.
I see ...It was in the description on Epiphone's page for the Elitest Casino which they have since taken down
to my knowledge there never ever was an Epi-owned Custom-Shop in JapanEpiphone . up to 2018, still had a Japanese custom shop where they made the Elitest models.
I have never read this on any €pi catalog - and I've read and own a shitload of themEpiphone's descriprtion of the Elitest Casino and the 1965 Casino says that they were built in Epiphone's Japanese Custon Shop

My Elitest Casino is th 2015 model which i won in a Guitar World contest and received from the Gibson PR distribution center in Nashville. No where in the booklet I recieved does it mention where it was made, but lat night as I was lookingat it, I realised there is a made in Japan sticker on the back of the headstock, and that sticker is also there on a couple of Casinoes listed on Reverb. To the best of my memory, in the mid teens, Epiphone made the Revolution Casino, The '65 Casino and the Elitest Casino in Japan, at a place they referred to as their "custom shop". The only difference in the guitars is the Elitest has a poly finish, the '65 has a nitro finish and I don't remember if the Revolution is nitro or polyto my knowledge there never ever was an Epi-owned Custom-Shop in Japan
The Elite / Elitist models were made by Fujigen and Terada.
They made MiJ Elitists up until the bancruptcy of the mothership, in the end only Casinos
I have never read this on any €pi catalog - and I've read and own a shitload of them
Here is a working link to the old Elitist-website
