Neck-thru is birdseye-maple/paduk/black limba. The wings are african mahogany, and the top is quilted big leaf maple. No CNC, No CAD, all hand built. Nitrocellulose lacquer. Hand cut MOP headstock logo. A few build and finish pics.

NICE JOB ! ! ! Continue to flood us with pictures !

Have you considerd making bevels, especially inside the horns ? I think that is a definite SG DNA feature and it's missing big time on the one in the firts pics. À la PRS would be cool.

I did on the back. I definitely did not want a PRS vibe at all. Not a fan. The goal was Les Paul on top, SG on back. 7747C0DB-4E70-4C25-B8B8-2AD7E95ADFBE.jpeg

Are the first two and the last picture's of your actual finished guitar? If they are, I'd say your a master craftsman. Congratulations on a beautiful job. How dose she play? I've often wondered why Gibson doesn't make a neck through design.

Yes all the pictures are of the same guitar in various stages of completion. It plays great, low action with dressed and polished 6105 frets.

The original Firebirds were also neck through designs. I do not think you have to wonder much why they don't make many of these. It's a lot more work, unless you tool all your guitars into that type of design. It also uses longer pieces of wood, which has it's advantages and disadvantages. I built a neck through Firebird V (5) vintage construction(ish) and it is my favorite guitar right now.

    Cheers Peter.

Absolutely! Also if the guitar is going to have Gibsonish neck and headstock angle and a carved top, the depth of the neck through section is huge, unless you’re willing to use scarf joints. There was enough waste on this one to get a complete Fender style neck From the cut off.
