I got one monitor free from my brother a while ago so now I have Dual monitors, and I love it.

if we're starting a post your PC rig thing here:

    AMD 2600+ 32 bit
    Epox 8RDA3+ (mobo)
    1GB RAM PC3200
    280 GB Hdd space
    ATi 9600 PRO 256 mb
    Asus dvd reader
about 14 Fans (it makes helluva racket when they're all switched on!)
    2.1 Creative 3200 speaker set

that's about it and it is in dire need of an upgrade, but guitars are soaking up all my money!

AMD is actually quite good. In fact, I'd say right now they're better than Intel. Of course, that all depends on the chip that you get.

Most likely, anybody you know that is having problems with AMD, isn't actually having a problem with their AMD, as much as their motherboard's chipset. VIA is a common chipset maker for AMD, which have to be the worst chipsets I've ever used, but they're cheap, so they're everywhere. I had an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4ghz back in the day, with unfortunately, a VIA chipset, and despite the chipset, it was a great chip. Quite fast.

Nvidia makes the best AMD chipsets right now, as best I can tell.

I actually think that I'll be switching to AMD on my next computer build. Not to suggest my P4 isn't amazing, but AMD seems to have the upper hand at the moment.

I like them alot. Very flat and not ear fatiguing to me. I also use Yorkville YSM-1's and Mackie HR824's both from time to time, but the KRK's have become my preferred monitors in the past few months.

The laptop is what I use for recording and production. I got the basic specs I wanted, then upgraded the hard drive and memory myself.

I have 4 AMD computers and have yet to have a single complaint. I build them myself and have been very pleased with the cost and performance.

    For what it's worth:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 running Windows XP 64bit
    3gb DDR Memory
160gb Maxtor, 200gb Maxtor, 120gb Maxtor USB Hard Drives
    ATI Radeon 9550 256mb
    Optorite DVD+-RW, LG DVD-DL+-RW
Dual Dell 19" 1905FP LCD Monitors

Thats the main one I use day to day. I agree that once you use Dual monitors you won't ever want to go back to just one.

I hope to have some Desktop backgrounds for Multi-mon users on the website very soon.
