I don't want to start a debate about whether this is the end of times or "just a flu." What I'm wondering about is how this is actually affecting you guys and gals personally.

Where I am, they just closed all the schools and my daycare is closed while they wait for the results from a test for one of the parents. I have two jobs too, and one of them (a university) just closed down and switched to online delivery. My other job is still open... for now... In any case, here I am, playing guitar unplugged and looking after my little one as she watches "Barbie Dolphin Magic." ahahaha I desperately need to talk to adults (hence this post :p).

Nothing has closed here in GB yet, but it is nearly impossible to travel into Europe. My friend Claire was due to go to LA next Monday, but she has decided to cancel. She could probably have flown, but with a high likelihood of either being put in quarantine on arrival or being unable to fly home.

Yeah flying to the US is probably not the best idea right now... two week quarantine and the even if you can fly back, you might have 2 more weeks of quarantine when you get back to GB ahahha It's like the longest layover in the history of air-travel.

We have 17 cases here in Sacramento county and one death in an assisted living facility (90's female) 237 cases state-wide with two other deaths in nearby counties. There have been school closures and event cancellations, including some big money makers like NCAA March Madness. I have not made huge changes to my life, but I do avoid big crowds in small spaces. A St. Patrick's gig has been cancelled so no worries there. We are not seeing a lot of hoarding, all the shelves at big box stores seem to be stocked. I understand S.CA may be different.

In a few years, you'll miss those times, but then she'll likely be looking out for you. (if you did it right!)

My schedule has become wide open and it looks like I have at least 2 weeks off.

I was temporarily laid off today, for 14 days or until further notice. All kindergartens, schools and bars were shut down yesterday here in Norway. 80 % of our brewery's revenue is from bars.

Here in New York it definitely has brought back the feel of 9/11. Very similar in so many ways, but worse in some respect. As horrific as 9/11 was, we sort of realized it was a one day event; but with this virus outbreak, we are walking on egg shells every day with no sign of it ending.

National Guard up in New Rochelle; virus test in the streets while you sit in your car; all sports and museums and theaters closed; stock market traders walking around in a daze downtown; shelves in stores depleted; temperature being taken before you can enter a restaurant...it really is like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Wow some of you really have it worst right now. We just got our first case confirmed, but already the shelves are bare and the atmosphere is somber AF.

The toilet roll thing defeats me. It's not like this is some major gastric flu - it's all about the chest. But I'm thinking of some friends who had a grocery store back in the seventies. They had ordered a ton of mushroom soup, and nobody wanted it. It just sat on the shelves. so they started telling their old lady customers that it would be discontinued soon. The last can was sold three days later.

What really ticks me off, though, is the lack of solidarity shown by the hoarders.

People reveal themselves in a crisis. A friend will help you move house. A real friend will help you move a body.

My son's casino job outside of Boston is on hold, the place is all but shut down as there's barely any patrons. Also we're close to pulling the trigger on canceling a family trip out to my daughter's in Denver in two weeks, and if so hoping to recover as much of the expenses (mostly pre-paid) as possible - flights, hotels, Nuggets game (already cancelled), Copper Mtn. ski tix (some ski areas both east and west starting to close early or limiting lifts like enclosed gondolas, etc. due to corona), ski rental gear; etc. etc. There are of course way worse things being affected for people, still I'm pretty bummed to cancel and not visit my daughter.

Good health and luck to all, be smart and be safe!

Yeah it sucks when it keeps families apart. My mom is retiring and wanted to come spend some time with the little one in a month or so. We'll see... Def. doesn't look like that would be a good idea at this point.

That all changed this morning. Rental box trucks in the parking lot of Target and Walmart, folks trying to buy up all the toilet paper and aerosol bleach.I hate it when the masses live down to my expectations.
