Italy gets 4 shows and the Netherlands get none!? Outrageous!!! :) I'd definatly go to their show if they were to play in Holland. I got their Songlines DVD and they just seem to always be 'on' live. I bet you'll have a great time Doveman. Enjoy and be sure to tell us how it was.

He's one hell of a player. I have heard him described in certain magazines as 'The World's Greatest Guitar Player', I'd question that, but you have to admit the kid's got major talent.
What I dig about him is his range of influences outside of guitar players (Coltrane, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan etc) which really comes out in his playing making it completely unique. There aren't a whole lot of players that you recognise in about 5 seconds. Jan Akkerman being another. Plus he plays damn much which is good for bringing music across. I read that on certain tours his DTB would open with an 1/1.5 hour set after which he'd play another 2.5/3 hours with the Allmans. That's a lot of playing for 1 night.
Well I just got back from the concert ... good news and bad news ... First the bad news ... my town Spartanburg didn't sell out the venue ... which was disappointing. I asked a lot of people over the week and most weren't tuned into the DTB music. Looks like we sold about 60% of the seats. We were a pretty subdued crowd ... but appreciative ... everyone there was a fan I think. Good news ... the show was really good ... sound and acoustics are great in that venue. They did two sets and an encore. All the music was good but to me the best part was and the "sit down" acoustic set that started the 2nd set. Derek played what looked like a dobro and maybe a national electric (not sure as the guitars were blocked by the monitors where I sat). But it was a great show. By the end everyone was standing and cheering. I think the band felt appreciated even though it was not a sell out. I thought the sounds were exceptional.
Here's my son Michael (left) his friend Thomas (right) and Derek Trucks (center) after last night's show. Pretty nice guy ... two year's ago Derek and his wife Susan both signed my son's SG Standard control cover after a New Year's Eve show in Atlanta ... it's still on his SG. Kinda cool ... huh?
