Seems there are 3 diferent types of cherry for sgs?
    1. Cherry
    2. Heritage Cherry
    3. Aged Cherry
Cause i was searching the net and seems there is little confusion about that.
for me, cherry would be this:

    Heritage cherry goes like this:

    And dark cherry:

What i dont see clear is: dark cherry and heritage cherry its the same? Dark cherry looks a little more dark, but i dont know if its the light of the pics or what.
in this pic, the light cherry, is heritage cherry or cherry?

i find it a little confusing.
I didnt even know about heritage tones, till a friend sended me a pic of hes 2012 sg that seemed more light red than my standard 2013.
So i started to search on the net and found that cherry has lighter tone and the red seems more "orange" and heritage cherry is darker tone and the red seems more "pink".
The doubt i got its, its dark cherry and heritage cherry the same or its dark cherry even more dark?
maybe the question seems a bit stupid, but even on google it isnt clear, and some people says dark cherry to waht to my eyes are heritage cherry tone.

It's more than a little confusing - looking through Gibson's own publicity shots, there seems to be as much variation of tone between different guitars with the same finish as there is between some of the different finishes, (if you see what I mean).
    Currently, there seems to be:
    Cherry
    Worn Cherry
    Heritage Cherry
    Vintage Cherry
    Aged Cherry
    Faded Cherry

But will Gibson keep making up new names to make their limited editions more appealing? How about 'Inevitable Cherry' or 'Ubiquitous Cherry'? Or 'Anything As Long As It's Cherry'…

Personally, I like the really dark Cherry finishes, the darker the better, perhaps they'll do a 'Black Cherry' one day. :)

I like the aged cherry casue its the blackest.
Ok i think my sg is vintage cherry, the one of my friend is cherry, and this one is aged cherry:

this is my standard vintage cherry:

looks very similar to aged cherry in certain light, keeps me doubt about specs since i believe in my gibson card says heritage "vintage" cherry
Edit: Seems that if you fade a heritage cherry on the sunlight it will turn darker/brownish like the aged cherry ^^

Heritage Cherry varies quite a bit, from a medium dark like the '62 RI to a bright, orangey red like some Standards and sometimes it's simply called Cherry for brevity. Aged Cherry and Vintage Cherry seem like the same thing to me. But your Standard is probably just a dark Heritage Cherry. I'm pretty sure they never made a small guard Std. in Vintage Cherry.

    This is an interesting thread......

Of all the colors mentioned... my 65 Sp I think when new was the "Heritage Cherry", but when I got it in 72 it was just "Cherry". It wasn't long and it was then a "Faded Cherry" and after some more gigs it was a "Worn Cherry". Now I can't decide if it is an "Aged Cherry" or the "Vintage Cherry".................... Dunno. :dunno:

well this is heritage cherry, and i know it for sure cause this is mine ;)
yours is also heritage cherry,in the photo of the pots you posted on the other thread, on one pot it is written HC, meaning heritage cherry

i think that 2 options exist, the heritage cherry, and the dark/vintage cherry. the existence of lights in the photos makes them seem diffirent

It's still my favorite SG color - and I'm not so fond of it for any other model of guitar.

my favorite is that dark maroon oxblood looking one that was on some late 60s models. jack black has one on the school of rock cover.
