...you get pushed to the basement, the toolshed, or the garage for playing your guitar?
Because you listen?
Because it's easier to hide new guitar purchases there....
My missus has always liked my music gear in the front room, where she can keep an eye on it (and me)!
Ever wonder why I have three EX-wives?
When I was learning sax the wife made me practice in the bathroom.
Practice makes perfect. I'm so good now I can do the whole thing in under a minute.
I think I'm gonna marry me a pretty young lady who plays guitar too.
Boy will my wife be pissed though.
Not me, luckily. My music room is one of the "bedrooms" and my wife enjoys guitars as art so I have them sitting on stands throughout the house. It's nice for me because one is always around if I want to pick it up and noodle.
Not me! I have 7 guitars and my Marshall Class 5 in our bedroom..my old lady actually loves it when I play..(sometimes 2-3 hours a night even..) and chills on the bed and reads or is on her laptop while I riff away..she loves it when I work on guitars too! (My work area for this is the bar counter in the kitchen..and I have a whole kitchen cabinet dedicated to guitar stuff, polish, parts, tools etc...)
She knows its my number 1 passion in life, and supports it 100%.
Look at this guy, marrying someone for the right reasons. Well la-tee-da, Mister Happy Man
I too am lucky enough to have an understanding spouse, my office/gym/guitar room is the furthest bedroom at the end of the hall. But many is the time I use the kitchen table or the counter to work on a guitar, or restring....or noodle around with the latest flip fodder....and our "built ins" in the living room are where I get to show off all my toys.......(not a current pic BTW)
i have amps & guitars all through the house but most of my musical toys are in the basement. besides my wife & i are fiscally responsible & on the same page/team rowing in the same direction so we just buy whatever i/we want ie can afford. nothing on credit, cod.
ps; the 4X12" cabs are home made & the wood was free so i figured the glue & screws cost about $3.00, they all have different celestion speakers. the marshal 8X10" was being thrown out empty & i snagged 12 thd-fender 8X10" bassman speakers on ebay for $150.00. could only fit 8 of them!
Awesome acoustics in the can Dave. It's why we all sounds like pros while singing in the shower.
Mrs. IbLive likes it when I practice on my acoustic but she doesn't fully apprection an amp on 11 with the fuzz pedal kicked in. Don't know what's up with that. Can't wipe the smile off my face while blowing the windows out.
I think it all comes down to mutual likes and respect. And just plain luck of the draw. There are SO many matches that work for couples, and SO many reasons why. Unfortunately many, many that don't. I am blessed with a wife that always shared my same intrests musically, in fact was a big reason we met. I claim she was a groupie, she says I'm lucky. (She wins). 30+ years later I will see her come and sit on the stairs (sometimes I don't even know she's there) and say " Whatcha doin?" I will say , Oh, Hey baby, Just trying to see if Gibson tail stop bushings are the same width as Ibanez. She will be like "Well? are they?" I will ramble off an answer like , Looks like 3/32 different. She's like COOL! I'm like NOT COOL!. We smile and she goes and gets in the Ipod. Then there are night like Kris referred to when she will come and listen to me playing, and then there are nights when I get the STINK EYE. All relative , all fun. Such is life,
My erstwhile sax playing deserved it.
Damn I miss the Patriot twins............shoulda never sold them :-(
Dang, Kris... You wanna get your wife to stand next to mine for a while, so it rubs off on her? Mine hates guitar with a passion!!!
