"I don't think they make electric 12 string sets, dude, but if you know the gauges, I guess i could put together some singles. "
Sacramento GC clerk, with D'Addario 12 string set directly behind him on the wall rack.

Do you need a 12 string to play Hip hop-infused Acid Prejazz?

Sacramento is the worst! I was in there a while ago and asked a guy about the prices on the used guitars, if they were flexible as there was a very liberal value they put on a G400 that was abused. The guy went on to say that they are fair market value and they don't (as employees) even get a discount on the used gear. Sympathizing with him I said, "Oh, that sucks." He replies, "No, I get it! They have to make money, too." Um, ok? I'm not sure why you told me that then, but uh huh.

I really try to buy stuff from my local GC since I feel bad for going in there only to buy small stuff, but it is difficult at times. The one by me has 3000 Strats, 2500 Les Pauls, and 5 SGs, 3 of which are probably bolt-on neck Epis (not that there is anything wrong with that) but a little more variety would be nice.
I made the mistake of taking my modified 1970 Twin Reverb amp there to see if I could trade it for gear, the guy there I'm pretty sure pretended to take photos of it with his phone, told me it was a 1980 and it was worth maybe $150.
I told him that even though the grill cloth was changed, the pots and transformers were from 1970 as well as the tube chart was older and it did not have a master control knob like 1980s Twins had. Rather than bother wasting more of their time or mine I hauled it back into my car. I had already taken the chassis out before this to verify everything so I seriously questioned myself and went home and took the chassis out again and verified it again. I was debating bringing my '69 SG Custom in just for grins to see what happens.

Had a similar experience. Have a Crate Blue Voodoo 120W head and was toying with trading it on a used LP Studio (199.99). They said they could do $135 on the head which they sell for $260+ all day long. Said I wanted to trade and they guy talked to his boss and said they'd do $135 and a set of strings. Hauled that heavy B back to my car.
