I have been reading the convos here since 2014 and I am finally becoming a member. I don't have my avatar up yet.
It was in 2014 when I bought my first sg and this forum did have some influence on that choice. It was an sgj of that year. As so many have said on this forum "I never should have sold it" but my situation changed with a layoff and in the uncertainty I made that decision (which was wrong). So in 2016 I bought a standard, and then another one, and then another one, and I am never ever selling them. I wouldn't mind adding a faded, or special some day. I'm no pro, and not much of a performer, but I love the sg. They are amazing. I really think they make me sound better than I actually am.

My favorite categories are "Gibson sg"… Amps and Cabs, and Luthiers Corner. I enjoy learning about the technical minutia about these guitars. I like seeing pictures of mods, although I haven't done any myself yet.

I grew up in the eighties, and so much of my music interest is influenced by that decade. I love hard rock and it all started when I bought my first cassette tape in 4th grade. It was Quiet Riot Metal Health.

I also have developed a love for the tones of BB King, Albert King and the other blues masters. The sg has those tones and their music and style really is outstanding.

A few other things about me. I'm an artist mostly working with oil painting, I do freelance graphic design, and I have been a chronic mountain biker for 25 years (the more extreme you make it the more addictive it is)

Ok, sorry this got kinda long, so that's all for now.

Ill hop onto your post because It gave me the courage to finally do the same. You literally made me finally decide its time to set up my account here. As a long time lurker of the forum, also not an owner yet but I do deeply desire an SG. My passion and desire for an SG is a story for another time but it goes back a decade, and I havent played one. Ever.

Also a blues-inclined player and also passionate about designing, but mostly sketching. I dont mountain bike but I do climb. So alike yet so different.

Ok sorry for highjacking your post but it spoke to me in so many ways.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard! And don't forget we need to see pics of your SGs.
...we need to see pics of any and all SGs, but yours will be a good place to start. :)

Thank you for the replies and the welcome.

Although I am but a new member myself, I extend my welcome to voodoomin and thank you for the comment.

I did not start playing guitar with an sg. My first guitar was a Peavey Raptor back in 1995. I took a few lessons at that time, but they became cost prohibitive. My guitar interest was off and on as life allowed until 2014 when I purchased an sg. I had one other Peavey guitar for a while, but nothing really lit the fire like my first sg.
