Hello everybody!

I just bought a new Epiphone G-400 today, my first Electric Guitar ever. I played quite a while now and noticed the following behaviour which causes a little queasy feeling, so to say.

Whenever I play a note (fretted or unfretted, single note or a chord - whatever, you get it...) and pull the headstock/neck with my left hand towards my body, the tone goes out of tune. Anyway, I don't pull very strong (at least I think so...) Would this be a (material) defect? Don't get me wrong: I don't have any problems while playing "normal", the headstock/neck and fretboard both look very straight from all angles, the neck is properly set into the body without cracks and so on. It's just this small thing which gives me a headache... :( I tried to reproduce this with my nylon stringed Guitar, but I don't have that problem there (I guess because of the shorter neck and the lower string tension).

Can any of you guys tell me something about that? Is it okay? Or do I have to exchange the guitar for a new one? I'm pretty nervous atm...

relax, I got the perfect cure to your problem.......................don't pull on the neck :funny:

Seriously, most guitars will go out of tune if you pull on the neck !

Hey guys, thanks for your kind answers - they helped me to calm down very quickly ! As I said, it's the first time I play an Electric Guitar and there are lots of things I have to get used to. Longer neck with more frets (have to look at the fretboard all the time ... pretty disoriented), lower string action (which gives me a string buzz when using my thumb and not playing with a pick), steel strings only (I plan to use them for cutting hardboiled eggs, but how the heck should I play without cutting my fingers? Hmmm... I should really learn to use a pick ), ... so I didn't know that my "problem" is a "feature", actually... thanks for pointing this out :)
