So, I did some home recording about 10 years ago with a Boss BR1600 all-in-one DAW. So it’s been awhile. I just picked up a Focusrite Solo used for $40. I’m interested in the cheapest, most user friendly recording software for PC. I’ve heard that Garage Band is pretty easy. Just looking for experienced opinions. Thanks in advance.
Garage band is Mac only but is very easy. Reaper is very powerful but I wouldn’t call it easy. Presonus studio One is very easy. And they’ve got a free version to try it out. At the core all DAW platforms do the same thing. The only significant difference is in how things are done while working Inside the application.
I guess the one that is both free and easy is Audacity. You can do a reasonable amount of editing with it too.
Is Cubasis still free? Or does it only come with devices these days? I switched to a Mac ages ago and used Garage Band for a few years then switched to Logic Pro X which I have since woefully underused ...
I like Reaper. The UI looks and feels much better than Audacity in my opinion. It has an unlimited free trial and even if you buy it, it's not expensive. And there are really good tutorial videos on the website that get you started quickly!
I have found many years of satisfaction with the older issues of SONY Acid. I stopped updating after Acid 7 and still use it to this day.
