Ya'll have got to check out the coffee table a dude on the Les Paul Forum built. This is very, very cool. The link below is to the thread where the guy, DoubleBoogie, built his own headstock-shaped coffee table. Les Paul Forum
I would like to see it but unfortunately there is just way too many cork sniffers on that forum, so I made a pledge to never go back. If someone could copy and paste a pic, though, I'd appreciate it!
Well this happened..... I though of helping out Alex by sending him the pic, but I needed to be a member, so I'm done making an acount and it tells me that the Administator has banned my email from being used.... wut? I never even knew the forum existed, and never have ever created an account.
Did you try registering with a web-based email account, like Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo? If so, that's probably the issue. You weren't actually banned. Registering with the Les Paul Forum requires an ISP-based email account.
Okay, so here are a few pics from the Les Paul Forum thread: This shows the initial buildup of the table. The sides and legs are mahogany. Here are a couple shots showing the completed table. The cup holders are stainless steel marine cupholders. The table surface is birch ply, and the inlays were CNC cut, and the truss rod cover is a build-up of layers of plastic. After the table surface was painted black, it was sprayed with several layers of clear gloss.
Now that's dedication to the cause. I agree, we need the rest! Doesn't have to be all together, we can have a fretboard bar table and a pair of horns as the headboard on a full-body bed.
That is cool.....however.....can't wait to see what the mass produced china fakes are going to look like.
I wonder if Henry J would be happy at the Gibson logo being re-produced on what is quite obviously a copy...
Yep. Can't have a Gibson without a Chibson... Oh yeah... Did the old "Gibson Girls" put the decals on? Also, can you get metric Kluson tuners instead of imperial Grover tuners?
