I spoke to Tony Iommi last night via the phone and he told me an exclusive.
Gibson Custom Shop will be making the replica of the "Monkey SG"

Are they gonna send you production #2?

OK, In my excitment last night I didn't get into the full explination.

Heaven & Hell are touring with Judas Priest and Motorhead for this Monstes of Metal or whatever tour.
Heaven and Hell is also going to be in my town today ( Saturday, Aug. 2nd ) to sign autographs and promote the new box set of Dio Era Sabbath CD's at a place called Vintage Vinyl.
They were also on Q104.3 ( NY Rock Radio Station ) last night on a show called "Friday Night Rocks with Eddie Trunk" which is dedicated to nothing but Hard Rock and Heavel Metal.

    Ya with me so far?
They opened the phone lines to callers, I was like the 6th caller, and I mentioned how I had the pleasure of meeting Tony & Geezer, yada yada
and when I mentioned I'm the guy with made the Monkey SG, Tony says "Lou"
So anyway during that conversation was when he mentioned that Gibson is going to be making the Monkey SG as another Iommi Signature Series SG

TNT and 6er, It would be nice if I got some kind of credit or something for getting the ball rolling but I highly doubt it.
According to Tony, when we spoke last year he mentioned to me that there was talk "for almost 2 yrs" on Gibson doing a run of his 65 SG Special as a Sig. Series.
So it seems like it was in the works long before I made my replica.
Maybe Gibson got wind of my copy, or saw it on the net and decided to make it?
Would be nice to think so !

Congrats Lou, I loved reading your post about meeting Tony.

And I think the most important part is that you can now say your on a first name basis with Tony Iommi. You must have made quite an impression when you met him so that he'd remember you by name. :D

I'm interested to see what is gonna happen pickup wise with this SG. It's one of my favorite SGs, definately one of the most recognizible.

Excellent news. The SG design dept. of Gibson seems to have an ear to the ground lately.

Good to hear about it. 8)

Even if the idea was independant, it demonstrates that great minds think alike... and there continues to be an interest in all things Iommi.

I would love if it caused Gibson to revive the Iommi CS Signatures, or make a production model with all the crosses.. I doubt it would effect the value of the 1st run, and it would put them at a more affordable level again. I know you (Lou) want a red one, and there's a brand new, plastic on the pickguard/unplayed one (With it's black twin) for $7000 ea. on ebay at the moment.... too rich for my blood.

Lou, you think they'll dupe those 24k pickups?

    Your kidding us............RIGHT? :?
Tony Iommi is one of the founding members and guitarist of Black Sabbath.
He has also been dubbed "The Godfather of Heavy Metal"

I saw that on evilbay last night..........would be nice but it's kinda rich for my blood as well.

As for the 24k pickup? I dunno.
When I see Mike ( Tony's Guitar Tech ) next saturday I'll ask him if he has any details.
