Hello to everybody, I have an Gibson SG Standard from 2008 (still have to make pictures for the Forum....... :-X) I'm interested to buy this Gibson Les Paul. Does anybody knows the exact name of the model and more important.......is it a real Gibson, not a fake? The reason why I ask this is the colour of the fingerboard/neck (sorry for my bad english but I mean where the frets are placed...) THe guy says it's from 1996. All comments welcome!! Thank you very much for the answers, and, I promise I will make pictures from my SG and from a fake Epi Les Paul Gold Top 1956 model (with P90's) Here are the pics:
It's a Les Paul Studio with P-90 single coil pickups, they don't come with neck (or body) binding. The fretboard is rosewood, since the studio model is a lower grade in the Les Paul line, the rosewood used is sometimes that of a lighter shade, it's still quality wood, they just save the darker grades for the higher end models. As far as it being a "real" Gibson....that I can't tell you for certain, however from your photo's it appears to be the genuine article, but beware as there are some highly convincing counterfeit Les Paul's coming out of Asia....
Beautiful guitar...love those P90 pups. The Studios sound just as good as any other Les Paul...Enjoy!
Here's mine .. it's a 40th anniversary and it's picked from a lot of 10 at Sam's Ash .. was the only one close to playin like butta but the P-100's suck big time bad .. have no idea why they would even put out a pickup that sounded like that? Live, your always inadvertently pulling up on the volume controls w/ ya pinky and can't help doing that with those pickups! I want to replace them w/ a custom set of cream and gold, staple neck/P-90 bridge set if that ever happens .. good for jazz? not even w/ those pups but again this particular one is a killer player Got it for $700 w case! Those were the daze ... ;D Says 40th anniversary, inlaid into the 12th fret
Hello, Thank you for the precisions. I think I 'm gonna wait to buy me a Standard, as the seller wants 895 euros for this particular guitar. Thank You all once again. Jamme
