Marc, The nylon inserts in the original Top Adjust Tune-O-Matic 7-Point Bridge kills the sustain. The bridge was designed to work for left or right handed guitars and allowed intonation over a wide range but the nylon inserts took away all the sustain. There were optional brass inserts but no one can find any. Save your old pickups.
Oh yeah? Like how the nylon saddles in Angus Young's SG "took away all the sustain"? Sure doesn't sound like it on all those classic albums... @Stella That looks awesome! Pseudo-Strat style bodies don't usually do it for me, but the Victory is one of the rare ones that does catch my eye. Especially in that finish! And the binding, set neck, bevels and bridge/tailpiece give it that little Gibson touch.
I liked the MVX so much, I got an MVII. The MVII is much lighter in weight. The pickups are not the same. This one is also an 81 Kalamazoo.
