What's wrong with their shipping rates?

They are offshore, Malaysia I think, so of course they are higher than continental shipping. It's run by a good respectable crew from what I hear.

A trainwrech clone for that price? That sounds astoundingly low priced to me. May not be as good as the real thing, but if it's close, it's gotta be something to behold.

You mean can you play them without the cabinet?

Of course. You dont need a cabinet for a head amp to work.

There are two different tables for two different shipping services. Maybe people should be mentioning which table you are going off of so people can make accurate comparisons.

Wow, the shipping really is rather steep, sorta takes the pizzazz out of the low prices. But I presume they are still low prices. I don't know much about the Trainwrecks, except that they may be the best boutique amp ever, and you might have to pay well over 20k to buy the real thing, and they are very rare. However I have no idea how close these clones come to the real thing...

    No master volume
If you pick the JTM45 or Plexi, you might want to add another couple hundred for a power attenuator as I believe these bad boys do not have a master volume.

If you buy a head without a cabinet, it can still work, but you risk a few things, including electrocution. I strenuously suggest installing a minimum framework with some sort of protrusion or splash guard as well. For myself, I'd prefer closing the frame in with clear plastic and include color LED's for a glowing ambiance effect. That way, if you want, save some bucks until you can afford something more retail looking.

You won't find amps being sold by any reputable business without a cab because of the liability factor, including death by electrocution. But amp kit makers can sell amps without cabs because of course it's incumbent upon the kit purchaser/builder to properly and safely finish the project.

Very reputable company. They make great power attenuators too, for those who don't have master volumes on their amps and would prefer to keep the volume below a deafening roar yet have that sweet cranked amp sound. Although I'd rather have power scaling, improves tube life instead of otherwise. They make great speakers too. ... I don't have a huge attraction to amps made without master volume/gain control. Then again, I don't tour or record professionally, or have an extra power attenuator.
