Hey everyone Have posted here a bit before, just giving a proper introduction. I started learning guitar on a ‘74 SG Special when I was 12. It belonged, and still does, to my dad. I’ve since owned a 2013 Standard and 2016 Faded. I’ve recently pulled the Special out of retirement and ordered some SD Antiquity IIs to try in it. Looking forward to that! My other guitars are an LP, Tele, and Strat. I mostly play blues rock, classic rock, and a little bluegrass.
Welcome TubeStack, what part of Canada ? And if you started at 12, was that last year ? Oh yeah, you must know that if we don't see all those guitars of yours, they're all just hearsay.
Thanks. I’m about an hour west of Toronto. Ha, I was 12 in 1986, much further back than last year. Here’s a couple pics of my guitars:
Welcome! Nice SG Special you have there. 1971 was the last year the SG Special had P-90's. It wasn't until 1999 that I had seen P-90's again on the SG Special. The 1999 reissue of the late 60's SG Special with P-90's was re-branded as the SG Classic. SG Specials with humbuckers were also being produced at the same time during the era of SG Classic production.
Exactly! Haha. I actually looked at putting P90s in the Special, instead of mini humbuckers, but they don’t fit. At some point, I’ll get an LP Special or SG with P90s, for sure.
So, reporting back a year later. :) Now all Gibson, and the missing P90 element has been taken care of.
Nice LP Special! Doesn’t get any better than a flat slab of mahogany with P-90’s and a Wraparound bridge.
Greetings again and great guitars btw! I love Canada and the Canadian people. Feel like I have to live in Nova Scotia. Attracts me very much. And I have no clue why I feel this way.
I love it! Crazy thing is, I actually owned this exact LP Special five years ago! (Not the same model, the same actual guitar.) I traded it in towards the R9 in the picture. About a month ago, I saw it for sale online and bought it back. It’s an amazing guitar, love the P90 and wraptail combo.
