Hi there!
Just want to say hello and say what a great site. I have been playing for over 20 years and been enamored by the SG my whole playing life.
My very first guitar was a '73 Guild SD deluxe. A very nice SG copy with a bigsby. I still own her. Unfortunately she sit sin the closet needing work.
I played for many years and took a long hiatus and my wife got me back into playing. The last 8 or so years I acquired and had a love affair with (ulp) Fender Telecasters...
I have always wanted an SG and eventually found a Epiphone SG-400. It turns out it was sort of a basket case. I had to rebuild the electronics, pick-ups and the pick guard. I used good quality parts and the Guitar sounded pretty nice, but I never bonded with it. I traded it for another guitar.
Last week my wife and I went into a guitar center for strings and happened on an odd single pick-up Gibson SG. We did some quick research on the internet and found out it was an early 70's Norlin SG-1.
We decided to buy it. GC has a 30 wait policy on used items... When that finally passed and we got it home it turns out this thing has all kinds of weird bits... I will post separately about the guitar... needless to say I found this site and here I sit.
