    Pictures on a reseller's forum don't tell us much, but from what I can see it looks legit.

    '64 Gibson catalog. It's a little hard to see the finger rest on the EB-O, but you can see the mounting screws. Of course Gibson's catalog pics are notoriously inaccurate -- the catalog shows a '61 with plastic pickup cover.

    Google images show a lot of '64s with the finger rest. And lots without. I don't know whether it was an option, or if people took them off and replaced the guard, or if the specs changed sometime in '64.

    Yes, the placement is stupid, but that was the typical placement back then. Leo put it there and everyone followed.

    !964 seems to have been a transition year for a few features. Vintage Guitar Price Guide says early '64 had a "raised truss rod" whatever that means. There is also mention of switching between nickel and chrome hand rest during that time.
