Hello, this SG is on sale here in Brazil for 1600 dollars. The owner says he bought it in the USA in 1981 and that it is all original, without modifications, but he does not know any information about the wood, pickup, hardware ..... I want to buy, but I need help. The serial number is 72209574. Thank you!
it's a Standard, dont see anything wrong with it. any other relevant info can easily be found via a search.
Thanks for helping. I thought it was strange that she didn't have "MADE IN USA" in the headstock. This is normal?
It looks like it might have it, but if so, it is very faint. In the first photo of the close up on the serial number, I think I'm seeing a "MADE" centered and above and between the screws for the D and G tuners. I had to zoom in. I can't make it out though on the other photo of the back of the headstock. It might be very faint and you need to get it in the right light.
maybe u can just make out the M.. DE... I...there... just for reference...below is another 79 so u can see how shallow that area is stamped..
I can see the entire "MADE". It's possible the die used to stamp the "MADE IN USA" was relatively new and very sharp, and not much pressure was used.
Eu vejo o "DE" em "MADE". Mal consigo ver o "MA". [/CITAR] obrigado pela ajuda amigo! Esta mal marcado na guitarra. Mas está lá !!!
Posso ver o "MADE" completo. É possível que a matriz usada para estampar o "MADE IN USA" fosse relativamente nova e muito afiada, e não tenha sido usada muita pressão. [/ QUOTE] With your help it became easier to identify "made in usa". Thanks.
Probably one of the earliest built with the switch in that location and jack on the side. That was officially a 1980 model year feature.
