Hello fellow Gibson SG guys... I don't come here often enough but I am have become a hardcore SG guy and I need to hang here more often. I could use your help please--I need some data- --Does anyone know what are the "period correct" cases for 1964 and 65 SG Juniors (cherry) I have a 64 and 65 Junior and I am unclear on what would be the right cases- and I am trying to find the right cases for my guitars.

Are these 2 cases below correct? I understand there may be Hard shell red plush lined cases as well

***Also does anyone have one in great shape I could purchase- THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!! Rock on-

I am not an expert on cases, but the one you show does look VERY close to the original case that came with my 65 Sp......... which disintegrated many years ago from use...... Thin profile, no markings, 3 clip catches, and I think mine was a red interior too. It took a lot of abuse but still couldn't hold up like the Guardian case I ended up getting.........

Hope it helps. 8)

I dont know about the one with the brown interior, but I would guess it may be a transition from the brown aligator chipboard case to the black chipboard, because the brown aligators had that same looking brown interior.

That being said, I always thought that the first black chipboard cases became available in 1965 with the red interior like the one in the photo. I have one of those that came with my 65 Junior.
