I havent decide yet which of the two guitars am selling, one of them is a 1973 gibson sg very used, a dirty tone and beautiful body, the other one is a 1991 gibson sg 61 reissue with the vibrola. Which one would you sell?? Thanks guys

Are you needing every penny you can get? Or will the sale of either cover your debt and leave you with change in the jeans?

If the latter is true, I would sell the 73. The 61 RI is near and dear to my heart, and you would be hard pressed to find a 91 with the vibrola. To be honest I didn’t even know that was available 30 years ago.

The Norlin are ain’t my favorite, but prices are climbing. You might not get much more for the 91 61 RI.

do you have a favorite? That’s the question!

Neither. Keep them both and rob convenience stores if you need to.

I have a 73. It goes with me to my grave. Sell the other one.

im like u...got a '75 std and a '00 61 with vibrola and which derek trucks used a similar off the shelf model as a base for his signature model...
anyway i like the norlin more for playability...but cant deny the 61 looks nicer :p

so for me if it came down to selling either one, the 61 would go...tho if regret sets it...it'll definitely be much easier to find a norlin again than the 61...
    so decisions :p

I’d sell the 73. The prices are way up on those sns I don’t particularly like the look or feel of them.

but that’s just what I’d do.

I'd keep the '73.......you can always get a Re-Issue, but a '73 SG Standard is going to keep getting rarer !

The '61 looks nicer, but I'd sell that one. I noticed you didn't mention how that one sounds, but you mentioned the tone of the '73 - therefore I think you like it more. It has a more unique look too, with the harmonica bridge and small block inlays.

Sell the 61 as the stop bar has been replaced with the vibrola.

yes I am aware of the vintage SG’s with Vibrolas. I was referring to the 61 RI. I didn’t realize the 61 RI had a vibrola model in the 90’s. I thought all the 62 and 61 RI were stop bars. I recall in 2000 when the first issue Angus Young signature came out, and wondering why they didn’t make more options for the vibrola

well the OP has dissapeared..but closer inspection of the 1991 shows an obvious circle below the maestro bar...there also doesn't seem to be any engraving on the maestro...
so basically it's a mod with a non-gibson part... therefore the decision here is now easy - sell the 61.
