I want to show you the "faux binding" I made on my inexpensive Les Paul Tribute. This is a scraped binding made with this tool. The result is not perfect but it is acceptable. After this I applied clear coat 2 times with a small paint brush. Clear coat is Tamiya, paint used with RC models. Not perfect, 100% cool !
These guitars kind of have a faux binding, you can see the maple cap on the side right? Any way, standard binding is on the side not on the front, but as long as you like it that's all that matters, enjoy your guitar!
Now put the cream plastics on it, and it will look great. I owned two LP tributes, and foolishly let them go. Great guitars! EDIT: found a pic of one of them - the '60s light burst. Not altered; the maple cap looks like it's binding on the body, but only from the sides, and a little bit at the "arm wear" area.
If it's anything like my 2018 Gibson Tribute (different pup combo and no weight relief), it's a tone and sustain monster! Definitely a "big bang for the buck" Les Paul!
