Hello. This is my first post here. I just got a 61 reissue and it is my first SG. This may be a stupid question, but do most players strap their SG backwards on the neck side so the strap lays more flat on your shoulder? I have put strap locks on the guitar and have them facing in different directions on the strap. The only bad thing is this strap will now only fit my SG and no other different brand guitars. Is this the way most players do it? Thanks for any help.

i think i know what you mean..and yeah unless the strap pin is on the upper horn, i think its most comforable to have it flat...if only i had a pic or a diagram or something to explain it easier.

yeah tripp. thats the way i do it .......the way you described with the strap locks facing in opposite directions. or you can do the strap button mod thingy that sg maniac came up with. that is actually the way the buttons are on the tony iommi sig model. he likes em the same way sg maniac does! welcome to etsg!

Thanks for all the help. I may eventually put the strap button in the horn like you mentioned. Having the strap connect where it does now just feels awkward to me. Thanks again.

Hey SGmaniac I' m not agree with you to put the strap on the horn. That broke the SG' s style

    Yes, and I use a strap-lock too.
I am back to the normal strap button location too.

For a while I experimented with strap button placement on SG's and basses to try to improve ergonomics and help a bad shoulder. I tried the upper horn, etc. but ultimately found the original location to be the best overall.
