There is good advice here, even if you're not looking for a metal sound. There's some generally good information about cutting through the mix and considering the sound of the rest of the band.

Besides, the dude's Scottish accent is awesome!

You're right..... awesome accent! And he's got some good suggestions on setting for someone like me that has been looking but never found some good setting for metal. Don't play a lot of it... but it's good to have a few in the pocket for those crowds that need it.... :dude:

yeah, I just discovered him yesterday. Pretty cool stuff. The kind of metal he demonstrates in his video seems to be more of the dark variety. I'm not really hip to that. I do tend to like the progressive and neo-classical metal sounds, though.

He does have some good, practical information.

when it comes to technical info he seems to know his stuff...very informative...stuff like turning down your tone and volume on your guitar and tweaking your amp after.

Obviously you need a Scoobie Doo "Shaggy" beard/goatee.....zero muscle tone.......weight 80 lbs.......and have stringy hair to play Metal---I am screwed.......

Not really a poke at this dude.....seems a basic premise throughout time lol

Feel free to argue randomly at this point....sorry Smitty for mucking about in your thread. ;)

(actually the guy is rather good---and I like his accent---my best friend growing up was Scottish----like a trip back in time) I am just in a "feel like being a dick" mode this evening.

Again apologies to the O.P.
