Hi There,

I just got a new Historic SG Standard. My last SG had chrome parts which were really easy to care for.

Does anyone have any tips or know of products to keep the nickel shiny? Thanks for your help.

Nickel is actually a lot more durable than chrome. Just keep it clean and polish with a clean soft rag. If you'r changing strings, you may want to get the hard to reach places at that tim. I usually just use a little windex or rubbing alcohol to clean heavy grime. I like nickel much better than chrome. It doesn't pit or lift the way chrome does.

Good luck with the new SG.

I bought a tube of MAAS Polishing Cream from Home Hardware in Canada. Expensive, $15! but it should last for years. The tube, that is. Though it will bring back the shine to your nickel it will only dull again next time your hand touches it. After a while I got tired of fighting a losing battle and gave up. I'd use it again if I were reselling.
