Hello Im new here. Only playd for about a year. Living in Stockholm, Sweden. Last year i bought a Gibson Faded SG Special started strumming like crazy. I changed from 009 to 010 and then to 011 on my SG and love the sound of it. I play blues, rock, garage, punk, Rn´B and other good old songs on it. Like I said I´m new and have a lot to learn.

A bad day playing guitar is better than a good day at work

Hi @ jon76

I (re)started at the age of 35.
I played a few years in my teenage years, but gave up.

Today, I can't understand why.
I love playing guitar.
:rockin:

Do you play in a band?

Be sure to listen to those that listen........ sometimes we can be a lot harder on ourselves.

i know i am my own worst critic. second would be the drummer :D

jon just do it

nothing beats the thrill of suddenly figuring out some part that's elluded you and now you 'get it'. i love that feeling.

there are times when i get very self conscious of what i am playing and then i start making mistakes. then there are those times where you are going 'how the heck did i just do that' and feel great about your playing.

best thing to do thou when you are ready is find other musicians to play with. that will make you better in a hurry.

It's the confidence balance.......... that thin line between no confidence and over confidence. When you're on the line, it's great! 8)

It's gonna sound radical, and I am not encouraging anyone to do anything, but I think an LSD trip or two erases the whole confidence issue.

Once you realise none of it matters, you are free to just let yourself be.

I think if you were able to experience everything that is actually happening around you, you'd fry yourself quickly. I think our brains are just filters that let us all have one agreed percieved reality. Certain chemicals diminish that filter temporarily and other stuff becomes visible that makes you more in tune with what really matters. (And trust me, it ain't whether you just nailed a guitar solo or bombed it.)

No big cooincidence some religions had a young man drink a "potion" to have a "vision" on a spirit quest. It's the same idea. Our current level of conciousness allows us to function in our world and interact with each other. Taking the chance to peek outside that current level gives you new perspective.

Those that have tried this will know exactly what I mean and those who haven't will say I'm not making sense :D Sorry LOL

Play in a band. As soon as possible.
Go find people who are at your stage of learning. You will improve so much faster...

Perhaps you can find other guitarists to learn together with... I took lessons. And the day I began to play rhythm and the teacher played lead over it... The sun began to shine on me...
;)

Only a few days later, my teacher took me to an open-mic-night. Yes, it was crap. But I had so much fun, and I was so proud.
;D
And I learned so much from it... Have a look: I'm a YT-link. There's 2 SGs in it.
Now, several years later, I can't believe what I have done...
;D
