The pickguard, yes, for late '72..the "extra" plastic in between the pickups..no..
Is the one from Russia? I think I saw that recently..looks like a poor refinish as well..

If I remember right my 74 w/bigsby had that same guard. I'm mot sure what that is between your two pickups and bridge. Mine didnt have anything like that. Mine also had a guard under the knobs.

    Thanks Kris

Yes the one from Russia, serial number also puts it a 74/75 I think 726804.

I did think the price was a bit too good... Oh well...

Bullfrog, sounds like yours was a '71 or '72..thats the ONLY years they did the front mount control plate..on the Russian SG, there is some serious foul play under the plates near the pickups LOL..

coxisingapore, it's a late '72 Standard..the construction details nail it down..the serial numbers from this period are not reliable..at all..
Check out this timeline I'm working on..lays out all of the changes from 1970 to 1973..

Kris I looked at the timeline pics. The dark brown 72 deluxe looks exactly like the one I had. Damn I miss that guitar! I bought a white 66 sg jr around the same time. Both all original, original owner guitars. I paid around $1,300 for both guitars about 17 years ago. Those kinda deals are pretty much gone I guess.
