Here's from my band that we did for an EyeHateGod compilation. Apparently one guy from the band got caught looting a pharmacy during Katrina and needs some help. So there's an album of bands covering EyeHateGod songs. We did this song: www.msprotege.com/members/pingdum/zzzzzza/TFD-Mastered.mp3
They're real sluggy, but we kicked it up pretty rock and roll. You regular rock guys on here might even like it. I played my Ibanez Les Paul for the basic tracks and The Jewel for backing and lead tracks.

Yea, I had never heard them before this project. Our cover sounds nothing like the original.

Please note: Weaselspawn is a Katrina victim, they got out with the clothes on their back, her CPU, and a cat. Everything else was gone. She is one lucky Weaselette. Despite her occasional sarcasm, I'm glad she's here!!  :)

I'd be happy to contribute a song to your benefit album. Tell me where to send it.

Actually, I have to correct you. We got out with the clothes on our back and the cat, true, but our entire house and all our belongings WERE spared - unlike many other unfortunate New Orleanians, some of whom were our friends. We did end up having to give up the apartment due to our landlady's shady shenanigans, but I don't want you going around giving the impression that the hurricane ate everything we had. [And when I had to pick which of my guitars to save, I picked the Ibanez acoustic. I figured I could always panhandle if it came to that. :) ]

The only things we lost were my job, a lot of junk, everything in the fridge and the security of a wonderful home, neighborhood and city. I am a huge supporter of the rebuilding of New Orleans, and I don't like the implication that someone is benefitting looters. >:( Unless the guy in question HAD to get, say, a specific medicine for a serious disorder and not just picking up painkillers and Viagra, I'm appalled that the originator of this thread would even ASK such a thing. Remember that Rite Aid that got broken into with a forklift Uptown? That was THREE BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE. And all they took was case after case of beer. Idiots.

Looting for food for your family when you have no other option is more or less morally acceptable to me, but all those other assholes who were doing it just to loot deserved shooting.

Wow, Weaselspawn, I'm really sorry to hear about everything you lost. Do you plan on moving back to New Orleans? I live in a town in south-east Texas and we got a pretty good number of Katrina refugees. Most are still here and from the ones I've talked to it's about a 50/50 split on those wanting to move back.

I absolutely want to move back. I lived in northern Illinois for 25 years and I've never felt more at home than I did those few months I resided in New Orleans. There's just nowhere else in the world like it.

FYI, I kept a blog about my recent trip back there - http://sweetdragon.livejournal.com/

I'll be posting pics from St. Bernard Parish very soon on said blog. Very, very unsettling stuff.
