Well, it's been a while since I've had some time to post (been busy with a divorce, hiding out, finding safe place to live, etc. The late, great Warren Z. was sure right when he said "bring lawyers, guns and money!) Anyway, I know that subject is a delicate one around here, so I'll move on. After 25 days of being AWOL in some warehouse, my friendly FedEx guys brings me a package. Now the game is - tell me what you know about this guitar. With the depth of knowledge around here, it shouldn't take too long for someone to nail it.

Here's what was in the cardboard box..

Now what in the hell is that..

    Hmmmm...I don't know about that

    Looks familiar, yet different

    Lastly...

Winner gets......nothing really, just my admiration for knowing way more than me about guitars. ;D

Well, Im not too sure its real. I mean, The "Fender - STRATOCASTER" logo seems way too small. Not to mention the thinline Telecaster pickguard with chicken head knobs.

    Just my opinion. ;)

My guess for what it is worth -a stripped Fender Stratocaster, can't guess the year, with the tremolo cavity filled with putty, and the pickup cavities routed for humbuckes and middle pickup cavity filled in with putty, a 60's style hard tail bridge added, homemade pearloid pickguard with chicken beak knobs and 3-way switch.

Just a guess without seeing it up close.

Some good guesses so far, but nothing real close yet. I should clarify that I know exactly what this is, or once was.
    Photoshop - No
Real Fender - not really, but kind of
    Stratocaster - No
Homemade - God no, I don't have the patience or ability
Custom Geetar - I guess this qualifies

    Re: Let's Play A Game....Here's the answer

Alright, I guess this was harder than I thought. It's easy when you already know the answer ;)

This git started life as a Squier 51'

    • [li]replaced the neck with a Strat clone with a waterslide decal
      the electronics were yanked
pickups replaced with a pair of HB's from an Ibanez 335 copy along with new pots, etc.
pickguard replaced with custom cut pearloid
      bridge saddles replaced
and then the whole thing was battered, abused, acid washed, and aged.
      [/li]
      [li][/li]
It was a fun project It plays and sounds great, and is definitely something different. Only trouble is now I am going to have to get another 51' because they are just too great to not have one for $100.00. ;D

Good eyes - it's actually an Alden SG Jr - it has the same headstock logo as the JT, and made in the same factory.
I love it - it is light, neck is fast, and that fake P-90 really growls when pushed. I'm embarrassed to say how little I paid for it on fleabay. I find myself reaching for that one the most lately. :)
