I forgot to add my latest addition here. After years of struggling to gel with SGs, the last two I've bought have definitely made something "click." Already kind of looking for another.
A friend in high school had one of those. At the time it was just a cheap 60s guitar. Sigh. My how times have changed eh? She's a beauty.
NICE ! What's that grain on top. Doesn't look like regular mahogany. You have closer images of the top ?
I think we are seeing some finish checking running at a 90 across the grain. I tried messin with some exposure & color parameters trying to get the grain, wear & checking to pop a little more. It worked a little but, some more detailed pics would still be great for this guitar! Pretty cool how the color stayed dark under the now removed Vibrola (above & below).
My '61 thats been with me from the start. Refinned, routed, broken and repaired, she sings like a bird and is ready for another 56 years of rocking. An evil, pissed off bird but still singin.
