I did a few more mods to what was basically a project guitar. The before...SG Future Tribute husk with abr-1 bridge, bell knobs, GFS Alnico V pickups, Grover vintage tuners, and a pickguard for 24 fret SGs.

Changed the knobs to witch hats, bridge is now a Gibson Nashville and the stopbar is an actual Gibson, it's a lot heavier than the old stopbar, and I changed out the tuners to...wait for it...the robo tuners. It's totally reversible and I actually like them.

The biggest change is the pups. I saw Boston again a few weeks ago and I'm once again going through a Boston phase, so I put in a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and a Super Distortion 2 in the neck. Yeah. I love the way they sound through my Rockman. I still have to try it out through my Rockman rack gear.

Bonus pick of 70 year old Tom Scholz rocking out...playing a signed Gibson Melody Maker Joan Jett gave him during the show.

I can't see the pic, but from the list of mods, it could be a beast of SG, very good choices, congrats

Dave,
The Schaller 456 is pretty cool! A few points of interest though:
1. It is intended as a direct replacement for a wraparound bridge, such as the Lightning Bar. Therefore, the mounting studs won’t match-up with the Tune-O-Matic/Tailpiece on your SG Standard.
2. It has been discontinued for a few years now and is getting difficult to find. They are out there, but usually in used condition and with a hefty price.
3. For a similar look, you could check out the Kahler Fixed Bridge:
https://www.kahlerusa.com/guitar-tremolo-and-bridge/3300-cx-6string-fine-tuning-brass
Here again, new mounting holes would be required in addition to a high price.
4. You could simply replace your existing Tailpiece with a TP-6:
https://www.gibson.com/Gear/Tailpieces/PTTP-Stopbar-Tailpiece
This would be the least invasive way to go. I would hate to see your Standard get mangled in an attempt to mod. Have you posted any info on it? Good luck!

I took out the PCB and original 61T/61R pickups: Then rewired 50s style with metal braided cable, full sized Gibson 500K pots, Switchcraft selector, 0.015uF neck tone cap, 0.022uF bridge tone cap and changed to a pair of DiMarzio 36th Anniversary pickups.

I also changed the plastic parts for a more '61 look, just cheap eBay bits, but they look and work fine. DId a bit of set up work and I'm really pleased with how it plays, looks and sounds.

This is a repost from page one, but photobucket no longer links things properly. Someone had questions about my tailpiece, so here's a new photo. I made it similar to an EDS 1275 tailpiece, but uses all the stock mounting screws of the vibrola. It takes less than five minutes to swap back and forth during a string change.
