Lookin for a few opinions

Recently bought a "67" sg standard. Guitar has all original ( it seems) hardware except for some old grover tuners when i popped open the control cavity i saw the pots -caps-swirch and input jack had been changed. Only had a minute to inspect them but dont know what they are yet. Look way to new with some small square green caps in there --looks like a kit or real professional job since the wiring runs and solder are very neatly done. My question is if i replace that wiring harness should i source a vintage setup or just buy something from say creamtone/mojotone or one of those tyoe companies tone pots seem fine but volume pots dropped off rapidly--As in no output around 6ish--albeit with a bedroom level through my blues jr or marshal tsl 602. The guitar has a refin but no breaks or repairs so it may never be a collector grade machine but my gut says put original in there. Any opinions welcome thanks

You might try just playing it to see how it sounds. I know that might seem like an absurd notion. I doubt that someone would replace the electronics in a real Gibson SG with garbage.

What is the advantage of all original parts? So you can sell it to some collector that will put it in their guitar museum where no one will ever play it again? I'm sure that life will still go on for Joe Bonamassa if he doesn't have one more museum piece to add to his collection.

Well, someone did that to an SG Special Faded that I purchased second hand. I gutted it out to tidy things up a bit.

I wish you could post some very detailed, high quality pics. The volume should not drop off like that. You might be able to fix what you already have.

Sourcing a vintage wiring and control setup is going to be pretty expensive.

I would just order some good quality parts and spend a day making it nice, its a refin anyway so get the best parts you can and go at it. It can never be original again but it can be a killer player.

Sounds like you dislike the volume pot type that was installed: audio vs linear.
