Hello people. Some years ago I had a 2012 SG Standard in Ebony that I absolutely loved but regrettably sold. I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement when I've gone to the stores and tried SG Standards. I've seen a lot of finishing issues in all of them, while the one I had was super duper clean.

Besides being clean, mine was very resonant and had a very good snarky growl. Besides not having neck dive and having a very comfortable neck (Slim Tapper 60's). Pickups were Classic 57s.

I'm considering other brands like Tokai, Maybach and Navigator. I do want it to be in ebony finish though.

Experiences with any of those? Any other suggestion you may have? Pickups can always be swapped, but I do want something resonant, with the same kind of tone and playability but with a better QC than Gibson.

Thank you.

If you are patient and usually bless with luck, you could look for a 2003 to 2005 Epiphone G400 Vintage. Every time I go to a store that carries Gibson, I make it a point to try a '61 to see if they are better. Nope. Needs a pickup change though, but the rest is 100% Gibson quality.

One piece neck, long tenon, neck binding, gold MOP headstock inlays, no veneer body.
