I just installed this G12M-65 Creamback beauty into my Blackstar HT-20 this weekend and it's buttery smooth. It's a big improvement over the stock speaker. And it's made in the UK! I love it.

Now it's time to start experimenting with some different tubes. I have a Tung-sol 12AX7 for V1 and a Electro-Harmonix 12AY7 for V2 waiting to go in. I think this amp sounds amazing and it just keeps getting better and better.

That's amazing, I thought the UK ones were special order now or something. Maybe they've brought more of the manu back?

Good score in any event. People rave about that speaker.

Nice. I wanna check one of those out.

Seems Celestion has continued to manufacture the higher-end speakers in the UK and sent the lower-priced models overseas. Things like the Creambacks, Blues and Golds are UK-made. I picked up a Greeback-10 a few months ago and it is UK-made.

I have a couple of the H75 Creambacks in an oversized 2X12 cab I had made to match my '70 Marshall 50W JMP Lead. I bought them used for a song on kijiji.ca (local equivalent to CraigsList), so they were already broken in. They sound really good, better driven hard than played clean, IMO.

Celestion does make very good speakers indeed, as I also have Greenbacks and a Blue now, G12H30's in the past also.

Would be interesting to fit a 12 " tone ring like fender used in the early 60`s n listen to the sonic results. That is a great spkr :dude:

So I tried the Tung-sol 12AX7 in V1 and a Electro-Harmonix 12AY7 in V2 for a little while and I didn't really like it. The Tung-sol sounded great on the clean channel but the 12AY7-EH took too much gain out of the drive channel. I guess I used more gain than I realized and it's nice to have plenty on tap if I need it. I ended up going with 2 Electro-Harmonix 12AX7's in both channels. I'm not too good at describing tones but, at low volumes the gain can sound a little muddy but when it's cranked it sounds superb to my ears. The clean channel cranked through my neck pickup is a blues machine. The clean sounds good at low volumes too but, I didn't buy an amp to play at low volumes.

The Electro-Harmonix are supposed to be a little grittier than the Tung-sol so that's why I tried them. I'm sure 2 Tung-sols would sound just as good. It sounds good to me... for now. Haha!
