The latest SG in his arsenal. Floyd Rose locking trem, a set of Iommi humbuckers (black in bridge, and chrome in neck), and the finish is stripped off the neck down to the sealer. Looks like I got another one to reproduce !
Meh, the pickguard doesn't match the body, the knobs are ugly, and vintage white doesn't go with chrome too well. Other than that..ehh..it's an SG
Actually I really like the look of the white pickguard on the creme color, same goes with the chrome. I agree it dosn't match but I really like the look of it myself. Had no idea that Iommi is using a floyd rose now though.
finally a floyd on an SG again since the 80's i think the SG double i think were called not sure.but the point is i love floyds especially on gibsons
Someone had the comment here or maybe in another forum "putting a Floyd on an SG is like raping a nun. Sure you can do it but you will go to hell for it." That may be a little extreme but I'll save the Floyds for the Super Strats. I do like the colors though.
Floyd Rose? I buy all kinds of different gear, some just for the hell of it. One lesson I learned is that I will never buy another Floyd Rose. What a pain in the ass! If my playing ability warranted it, and my choice of music required it, I suppose I would buy another guitar with a Floyd Rose and learn to get the most of it. It would NOT be a SG, however. It displeases the Gods, kinda like the nun comment.
They've been making Volkswagens since 1931. I didn't know mounting a Floyd on an SG was physically possible. Do they mount it the same way as any other guitar?
yea, the floyd is mounted exactly the same as on a regular strat. i have a SG-90 with factory fitted schaller floyd, but its routed to only be able to pull 1/2 step up. i also wouldnt mind a string-thru SG-90, waiting for one to pop up near me. btw, the SG-90s has the 60s slim taper neck.
At least it'll be easier to find some pickups for it! I notice also that it has 24 frets (so that rules out a bog-standard SG) and a squared-off top horn (for the strap button). You might have to start this one from scratch Lou.;D

That's a great looking guitar. I'd have one if he was to ever sell it to someone of the public for under a tenner.
I like it...I always heard that a floyd sounds/works best on a 25.5" scale guitar... but I dunno. I have a badass gibson v 90 with a factory gibbo floyd...but that guitar is 25.5" scale (and 24 frets) 8)
