You know, looking at all that maple, I wonder how much like the late 70's L6s, which I got to play for the first time last week at a jam session.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_L6-S

I had not played them in the 70;s but a guy brought one and it was a pretty cool guitar, lots of tonal variation, and a somewhat "Fender-y" maple neck. Of course the pickups are different, but it was an early all maple Gibson, and designed by Bill Lawrence if I recall.

So how's the maple SG play and sound?

I love the look, what kind of pickups are those?

Pickups are the stock 57 classics painted cream.
The pickguard is fro WD music.

sure not what i am used to seeing on an SG but how does it play? Does it have much sustain or is it a brighter more compressed sound? Wonder what it would look like with a different colored pickguard?

I'm really intrigued by those Raw Power SG's. I'd like to find a good used one. Maple is much stronger than mahogany, which is good for me. As much as I love my SG's, I find that I always hold back a little on them because I am afraid that they will break. Fenders, on the other hand, you can throw them across the stage and they are just fine!

Beautiful guitar you got there!

kevy if that vid of you playing watchtower was you holding back... I'd like to see you cut loose on stage ;D

Re the raw power... I like the black pickguard better but think one with the gloss finish might really be the ticket.

Haha, it's true! I do usually get a little more "carried away" when playing one of my Strats because I don't worry about breaking them.
