Got my first Gibson today :) absolutely killer guitar and it came setup perfect. All I did was throw new strings on her.
There are no cosmetic issues other than some very slight tooling marks on one of the frets but I can live with this!
Even after just one day with Italia I can say that I would recommend the new SGs to anyone, no argument! Coincidently, according to the certificate it came with, she was built on the 12th anniversary of the death of a friend. I think it makes it much more sentimental. I will have this guitar for life

I too also have the tooling mark on one of my frets. Is it a groove, around the 8th or 9th fret, below the E and A strings? I think that’s where mine is. I’m not home to get an exact answer though

    Welcome to ETSG
and congratulations on an excellent choice of guitar.

May you bond with your SG as tightly as I have bonded with mine.

Congrats... my cat loves my Gibsons for some reason too... I think they dig the vanilla scent from those Nitro finishes.... better than catnip I say... (I like that smell too).....lol
