    Hi everyone.

My first guitar was an epiphone SG Special 2004. I sold that guitar many years ago and since then, I've been playing mostly a telecaster, but I really miss the lightness, the sound, the looks, the comfy neck and even the dive hahaha...

Recently I just scored this beauty for 250€. It came with a Epiphone case, CTS pots, Tonerider Alnico II classic pickups, orange drop capacitors, switchcraft switch and bone nut.

I'm loving the guitar, and it plays very well although the neck is not as slim as I remembered. I guess is just a matter of getting used to it.

What else can you guys tell me about this guitar? I think it is Korean made in 2004.

Nice guitar! A Vintage G-400, made at the Unsung Korea factory in September 2004. These are regarded as some of the best SGs Epiphone ever produced. Someone did a nice job on the electronics too, an A2 PAF style pickup sounds great in the bridge position of an SG, although it always amuses me to see those gigantic orange caps in a guitar. Great score! Rock that thing!!

You scored a great axe, congrats. I am hunting this exact guitar as well. In this same finish but still no luck. One slipped away few weeks ago. It has as you see one piece neck, binding and no veneer, nice grain mahogany. Good price!

Good score ! You got yourself one of the hard to get Korean Vintage. I have 2 of those, had 4 for a while. They are, if you forget about the top last few cm of the headstock, basically a Gibson SG. They were only produced on a three year span from late 2003 to early 2006. They have as said before a one piece neck, headstock has glued wings just like a Gibson, long tenon and no veneer as all following G400 have.

I'm trying to keep a tab on these. Where did you get it (country, area) ?

Every time I go in a store carrying Gibson, I make a point of testing SGs and I always come back convinced that I don't need one.

This is when they launched it in 2003.

Oh yeah, and wecome to the SG zoo !

    Oh, wow!

It certainly feels like a more expensive guitar when playing it. Even with the few dings on it and the aged perloid inlays the guitar just shouts attitude. I will definitely rock the hell out of it.

I found this SG on the market of a Spanish guitar forums (Guitarristas.com) they do have a beautiful Epiphone SG Elitist on sale there too for 700€.

You guys definitely made my day with all this great info. Thank you.

The only mod I have in mind at the moment is replacing the grover kidney buttons to lighter plastic vintage green keystone buttons.

I put lighter tuners, a vibrola and Gibson 57's in mine. A super player.

Nice score! Even nicer mods... I wouldn’t touch a thing, whoever loaded that Epi knows what’s up.
