Welcome to ETSG!

With those three instruments you've got a lot of tonal ground
covered.

There's a lot of information available on this forum, but if you
don't need information, there's a lot of comradeship here too.

Here's my Gibsons: from left to right...
'07 SG faded special, heavily modded by me

'18 J-45 AG

I'm very happy with these instruments, and I hope you are
happy with yours.

Either "Horsefeathers" or "Duck Soup," there, D. There's always the classic, "I remember you! I never forget a face! But, in your case, I'll make an exception."

How about a solo shot of each. :D

Junior weighing in at 5.8Lbs. This one has a big clear sound. Sweet to roar. It's all there.
Full tight bottom with a nice balance of low and high mids.
Top end bite that has sting yet, no harshness. A beast!

Standard '61. 6.8 Lbs. The Standard has a full clear bottom end with a good emphasis on the low mids.
The higher mids are a bit scooped and has an aggressive yet, pleasing top end sparkle with bite.
Middle position with the bridge pu rolled down to 8 with the neck pu on 10 has that ABB thang.

Special at 6.5 Lbs. This one jangles and snarls. Lows are super tight and clear with subdued low mids.
Wich leaves the upper mids to be more prominent. This along with its little extra top end snap and ring gives it cool jangly tone.
This one has the best/clearest neck pickup tone I've ever had.
Put in the middle position and it has that Ric vibe.

love the articulation in your descriptions of the sound...
Lots of new players on this forum, and they can benefit from learning
how to analyze tone... Highs, mids and lows...

I had to learn how the hard way, of course. But that doesn't mean all new
musicians need to. I don't think anyone should be made to learn the hard way.
Just like I don't think new players ought to have to play a POS... like I did.

here's some individual images of my beauties:
This one's name is Catalina... the 2012 SG special '70s tribute: Maple neck with oversize
'70s headstock and volute, baked maple fretboard, 2012 new design mini humbuckers, Silverburst matt
finish and custom switch washer and pick guard made by me out of ebony headstock veneer.
April 2017@100.jpg
and here's my darling Zelda... she was made in January 2018, just before Gibson went bankrupt and has been under
reconstruction. The 2018 Gibson J-45 AG was made with Walnut back and sides, Spruce top, Walnut bridge and fretboard
and a Maple neck. As soon as I heard about this instrument, I wanted one. A Gibson J-45 made of all North American hardwood... I'll support this concept the best way I know how... I'll buy one.

lastly but not least, here's my favorite guitar of all time: my '07 SG special faded...
I named her Luna, because the cutaways made me mindful of the phases of the moon.
I bonded with this guitar in GC... not really knowing what was happening to me.
She sounded so good unplugged, she responded so well to my tweaking of her tuners,
she spoke to my unconscious mind, saying, "Take me home, big boy, before some other
gorilla figures out what a great guitar I am..."

May you have joy of your excellent Gibson guitars.
I read with sorrow what dreadful experiences other guitarists have had with Gibson guitars they bought
unplayed, unseen on the internet. Me, I bought relatively inexpensive Gibsons and have had only the
best of experiences. Go figure.

Love your Pelham Blue classic...

We have similar taste, but if I had to pick one (shudder!), it'd be the Special.

My duo are a cherry 2015 Gibson Standard with an SD 59/Custom bridge and a Jazz neck (might swap those for WLHs or Seth's in the future) and a just got Epi Special with P90s in Pelham Blue.
