So I pulled the trigger on the fender. Sounds great, tone for days. Nice and lightweight. Know anybody looking for a Vox VT100?
Yeah I am kinda thinking of that one also ... don't need it exactly ... but want one. How about a mini review when you get a chance to get comfortable with it? Congrats woo hoo!
I played it for about 5 hours on Sunday with the Strat and my uncle and cousin on bass and drums. Amp sounds great on it’s own but add a OD pedal and it comes alive. It’s super responsive which is great but it really exposes your technique, so I added a little compression to smooth it out a bit. I was having such a blast I forgot to try my SG through it, I know, sacrilege! I’ll report back later about that, but I’m sure it’s gonna kill. It weighs 31 lbs, so glad I don’t have to lug that VT100 around anymore. The lacquered tweed just looks killer also. So yeah, I’m in love again.
I have a Vox VT-30, but have always drooled over the Blues Jr. It seems like an all around excellent amp, that will make any guitar you plug into it sound good. I've played my SG through a friend's Fender Pro Junior, which is bit smaller and doesn't have the Fender reverb unit. But similar tone in a small room. So I believe that the SG and the Fender Blues Jr will be a great combination. My VT-30 amp is just fun... I have a couple of presets saved, so I can bring up my favorite tones quickly, and I like that feature. The modeling amp thing has a lot of sounds I'll never use in performance, but it's still lots of fun to explore, and I've had it for years now. I find a new tone every time I turn it on, and the SG sounds great with it too. But the Fender is for when you already know what you want to sound like, and just need to make it loud. *grins ...Very cool.
