Need Some Ideas

im toying with the idea of building my own guitar... i am taking a woods class and i got to looking and from what i can find is guitar making isnt all that complicated nor difficult if you have the right tools and equipment and in the school woodshop there is everything from files to cnc mills so im set for tools... but now i need some ideas on what i should use for woods... im going with gibson electronics 500t and 498t in the neck gibson pots all gibson... but for body wood im not sure what i should use i have been thinking i shoudl make it different than everything else and im thinking maybe a cherry neck (so that it will resist warping) i dont know what i want to use for a fretboard, walnut body, and i dont know what kind of a top... will you people please give me some wood opinions thanks alot

From your choice of pickups and control pots, I'd say you ought to be looking for some nice straight buttwood.

You mean buttonwood?

I wonder if he's gonna put a peterfore on it?

I got a nice RR Flying V already for finish ( black w/white polka dots )and final set up. I'll post pics.
Considering selling it
