Hello Ladies & Gents, I just traded into my first SG and I love it much more than I thought I would. I've been a Les Paul fan since I was in high school and always just had a mild interest in an SG. Over the past few months I'd been thinking about it more and more and I had someone offer to trade one of my Les Paul Studios for this beauty I jumped on it, couldn't be happier with it! 99 SG Special Limited Edition Here's the LP I traded off
Nice looking SG for sure. I’m glad you love it. They really are a one of a kind guitar. I couldn’t be happier with mine
Good deal man ! That things in great shape for over 20 years old. Definitely a keeper ! It has the old style larger control cavity cover. Be super careful with it.
Nice! Pickup covers will make it look more finished IMO. Had a 2000 SG Special Limited Edition in the past. Previous owner changed hardware to chrome. I added covers when I got it.
Nice guitar! I also agree on the covers. The gap around the humbuckers on my Special seemed HUGE, that's all gone now though and I think it looks a lot better.
Beautiful guitar and one of my favorite color combos aged white or cream with an ebony board! Welcome to the forums.
Welcome to ETSG! That's a beauty you have there. SGs and Les Pauls are similar in tone, but have subtle differences that make each one appropriate for different songs. There's a lot of discussion sometimes about how the two platforms differ, but IMHO: Vive la difference! If you already own Les Pauls, you should be comfortable playing an SG and aware of how the tones can complement each other. I think it's great to own both. But since I have a pair of SGs, I've never felt that I needed a Paul. That's just me, I'm sure. And it's why I hang out here sometimes.
Good move! I'm not saying the Les Paul wasn't nice, I'm saying the SG is so much nicer...and I'm a 'Paul advocate...had an SG Special, too. I DID have an Ibanez SG in white found at a pawn shop. I liked the look.
