Maybe he didn't want a plastic coated guitar?

Maybe you're not aware that this poster has gone around bashing everybody's Epiphones. I am not knocking the guitar, I am just making a comment similar to the ones he has made to scores of other posters who have bought Epis. I like Epis. I like Gibsons.

I paid 750 US$, incredible Gibson, a pure Gibson. The 490T humbucker is not the best ... Only bad point.

I played one of them a while back and loved it.

Too bad I can't justify (or even afford) another guitar.

I haven't been happy with Gibson's recent humbucking pickups so much. I don't consider throwing in a pair of quality Duncan, Lollar or other pickups to be a big deal.

This is a great Gibson, only one bad point, 490T bridge pickup is not very good.

    Upgrades :

    - Buffing finish
    - Blank '59 repro truss rod cover
    - Black plastics and 5 ply pickguard (Gibson)
    - Historic switch tip and black poker chip
    - Nickel metal jack plate
    - Amber knobs (Philadelphia LT)
    - Gibson ABR-1 bridge

But then he could have gotten a Chibson for half the price of an Epi.

But then he could have gotten a good steak dinner for two for half the price of a Chibson.

The top does look rather yellow... The Epis have a beautiful gold finish.

Could've gotten one of these for similar money; a 57 Elitist goldtop - fantastic guitar.
