hey fam. I'd like to know which pedal do you suggest me to pair with my gibson sg and 68 custom deluxe reverb. i usually play jazz blues rock and metal. (mostly all of them ) depends on the mood. DRRI has an awesome clean tone. but what about rock/heavy rock and metal ??? can you suggest me what to do or any pedal to check before buying it ??? thank you !!!

Check out earthquaker, they have some traditional tones aswell as some funky cool stuff. I find they’re more for the ambient, psychadellic musician, but the Acapulco gold is a great distortion. One of my favourite pedal companies. I also played the revv 3. It sounded good aswell.

My advice is YouTube. Check out pedal reviews and that will give you a good idea of what to expect out of the pedal when you buy.

my bad.. i can play jazz and blues through my amp w/o pedals. Just wanted to know about a pedal with low lvl of gains till all the way up (distortion in a lvl to play metal riffs)

Thank you ! that's mostly what i do (watching YT videos, but i dont find many using a DRRI or any Fender's clean amps). That's my biggest concern. Cause i read few posts that few good/great pedals didnt fit well into a fender amp.

You could try a Marshall pedal, the big one which sits on top of a 4x12, which Marshall also make. There's one in my avatar.

I picked up a second hand Mesa Boogie Flux Five and it’ll do ANYTHING - really impressed. It’s become my “can’t be arsed to bring my pedalboard” pedal. :)

I'll second the Earthquaker recommendation. Their Plumes overdrive is hands down the best OD pedal I've played. And it does get heavy too.

The great thing about these all tube Fender's is they make outrageous effects platforms. I got the special edition Princeton Reverb 15w with 12" Celestion greenback and that thing is amazing. I use Buck Dharma's method of getting the roar by stacking overdrives. Never underestimate the various Electro Harmonix od's or MXR il diavolo and il torino custom shop drives. I stack the EHX Crayon with the MXR il diavolo and I can get some KK Downing "Sinner" grit.

I've often heard that a Tubescreamer style pedal matches well with Fender amps, but I have no first-hand experience.

For metal , I think thee pedal to get is the Diezel VH-4. It has the ability to be used as a standard distortion into the front of your amp, or as a stand alone preamp into the return of an effects loop (if your amp has one). However, I don't know if it'll get tame enough for you @GeorgeGR .

Consider starting with the MXR Timmy.

This pedal is just incredible. Bought one before the Covid lock down and have come to really appreciate this device.

By itself it can slightly boost the and tighten the bass. It gives some smooth OD and lighter compression. Also, the Timmy makes a nice always on pedal.

Lastly, the Timmy stacks really well. I'm using it to push both my old Full Drive 2 and a Dirty Little Secret. Helps in the bass dept and fills in the high end nicely.

*Update* Hey everyone ! I want to thank everyone of you for your amazing suggestions. My country (Greece) faced a crucial hit of importing guitar pedals and i didn't have the opportunity to check the pedals you suggested me. I tried to check few pedals from my friends into my amp and i bought EHX OD Glove. It's the a clone pedal of Fulltone OCD. For its money (50euros) it's a killer pedal. It really can cover many genres from blues to hard rock , but it ain't a distortion pedal to cover metal songs. It happened to test an amptweaker pedal (tight metal) and i instantly fell in love with it. So when ill get some more money because this year it was hard and i purchased a lot of stuff, this may be my real first pedal.
