London, new hearing aid project - exciting
The locking nut is the key. Add to that a Floyd Rose bridge, or if you have a stack of guitars and a top class tech, an ordinary bridge. Then you can dive bomb all day and not lose tune. Watch Jeff Beck to see how that works.

In my experience, with locking tuners, a roller bridge and a correct setup you can do whatever you like and the thing stays in tune. What I meant was, dive bombs? No probs.

NP, badly quoted by me. I see now it can be read either way.

Not much, tobe honest. I was on the lookout for a maestro or bigsby, but no luck yet. Almost scored a nice Epiphone SG case, but the guy wouldn’t accept my offer.
Other than that, busy working in the house and garden. Priorities, priorities....

I will, no worries. Sometimes life gets in the way of your plans (and sometimes the wheather - I do most of the work outdoors)

I was expecting this response :D

As they say: life got in the way, so I haven't done much to the guitar recently, but I will work on it again soon!

I have this black (Chinese - 10 year old) G400 Deluxe with Maestro. I bought it for the Maestro but the guitar is not really my favorite...

I am considering putting the Maestro on this guitar, making it my ultimate dream SG and afterwards put a regular stopbar on the black one.

    Does this sound crazy?

Hacking up the black one (making it less desirable without the Maestro) and changing this one in the opposite way :-)

Ah, ok, you mean taking money into consideration. Meh, screw that. If my daughter ever sells her G400 Custom I'll take the Vibrola off first. If you look at what those cost compared to what a second hand Epi costs then it makes no sense to sell the Epi with the Vibrola on anyway. Just do it.

Allright, I took a completely different route and put the lyre vibrola on my 3-pickup custom and...

Scored a sideways vibrola from a guy that took it off his 2019 Gibson :naughty: so I can use it for my project and get the actual look I was going for in the first place.

Picking it up this Saturday. Excited!
