    Hey everyone.
I am really glad that I found your forum! I've been looking for an SG for a while now and I am confused on how to find one that is closer to 6 pounds. The ones that I'm finding online are over 7 pounds. I've been told that because of differences in wood density that each SG can weigh different. Any suggestions for which SG to look for would be great.

    John

I'm posting this in the Gibson thread because I'm considering a Gibson SG as well.

As a fellow left handed guitar player who has been playing a left handed Gibson SG since 1979, I welcome you to the SG site. In terms of finding a six pound SG, my experience is that most are in the 6.5-7 pound range but you might find an SG for 6 pounds. If you are looking for a left handed model, try looking at Jerry's Lefty Guitars or Southpaw, both of which sell only left handed models. Both sites regularly have SG models and do list the weight of each guitar. Best of luck and keep in touch

You beat me to the punch, I was also going to suggest Reverb, they also post the guitar weights! Good luck with your new SG, you will love these guitars, as a lefty I can tell you it's a particularly good model for left handed players!

Thanks for the resources!! I almost got one from Sweetwater. i ended up buying an Epiphone G-400 Pro SG used from reverb today! 6.75 pounds and red (it looks like worn cherry). $400 with shipping and tax. very pleased as I wanted one now and they are hard to come by.

YAY, John. I am one of those oddball guys. I consider myself a lefty, BUT I am so ambidextrous, I switch from one hand to another depending on the task.

I play guitar righty, golf, baseball, basketball etc all righty, BUT billiards I go lefty, I run a saw either righty or lefty, play drums, righty but of course drums truly are something one can do totally ambi.

Glad I could help you find a lefty SG/ G400 bro.
