I was contacted back in June by a Gibson Custom Shop employee who saw a post that I made on MLP several years ago featuring my '61 LP/SG Standard. He created an account just to contact me and let me know that he used to own that guitar from around 2000-2010 and was interested in getting it back. It wasn't for sale, but I let him know that I was somewhat open to the idea. After several months, we ended up coming to a trade+cash deal, which included a couple of Historic Reissue Les Pauls.

Part of me making peace with selling a guitar that I really loved was that I was really interested in getting either a Polaris White LP/SG Custom or a Polaris White SG Special. I ended up finding a really great Special at Nationwide Guitars and it arrived late last week.

As you saw from the thread title, it's a 1963 model and is all original, although I'm on the hunt for a proper Archcraft plush case if anyone has any leads. It came set up perfectly and plays and sounds great, both clean and dirty.

Here are some pics that I took early this morning. Enjoy!

Beautiful guitar. I hate to say this, and if it were mine i wouldn't do it, but an Ebony tailpiece block would really set it off. If I were Gibson that's what I'd make, a polor white SG with a short Maestro, an ebony neck and an ebony block. Sorry to hijack the thread. It really is a beautiful guitar, and I love the ghost picture.

Thanks! You might like the Brian Ray SG Gibson made a couple of years ago.

I remember that model, but I don't remember the color. It was a Jr, wasn't it?

It was TV White, so not Polaris, but pretty close. It had a single dogear like a Junior, but with an ebony block, short vibrola, and trapezoid inlays.

Nice. I haven’t seen one like that in about 20 yrs and it went for over $5k then. I guess $9k would be average today. It’s a crazy world, enjoy!

The power of the internet to put people together.. do you still have a pic of the 61 LP/SG standard as well? The pictures are fantastic of your special.. lighting is just right.. the color of the fretboard is stunning and makes the white body pop.. great job and good plan when departing with your 61.. everyone wins..
