I couldn't resist this '64 SG Junior when I saw it pop up on Reverb. It's clearly a player and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm not particularly neck shape-sensitive, but this one's really great in terms of the thickness. No structural issues, but it's got lots of blemishes, including the holes from where someone had a B5 on it at some point.

It's obviously also missing the vibrola and was listed as such, so I just assumed that the previous owner didn't have it. I pretty much immediately went on the hunt to try and find one at a reasonable price (that's the trick) and a few days later saw one that had been removed from a '64 SG. Turns out it was the same guy. I guess I should have just asked outright if he had it. I put in an offer and he actually countered with less since I had the actual guitar. It should be here tomorrow; however, I really like the setup with the wraparound, so it might be not much more than a cover for three of those holes in the top.
It weighs a whopping 5 lbs, 11 oz without it, so I'm not worried about the extra weight. :D

    Anyway, here are the goods...

I would be willing to bet a substantial amount of money
this guitar is capable of a truly terrifying primal scream.
    Best of luck with it.

    Now that's a well broken-in guitar... ... congrats!

What's going on with the pup cover on the neck side? Decades of acidic fingertips? Chewed up with a pick?

Sweeeeet! Congrats! That's the only good way to relic a guitar; time and use.

Not exactly sure what happened, but it's an actual crack in the pickup cover. Looks to me to be the result of a single event more than wear over time.

A few months back, I checked out a Jr like this at Towson Md Guitar Center.
Everything looked original,( no missing Lyre holes) The guitar was a Buzzer,,,,,,,,,,,, looked like would need a refret as they were super worn down.
At nearly $2k It was too pricey for me.

Best wishes on your new OLD SG.

Addict, how is your Towson Guitar Center SG doing way out there? I went to GC to look at your guitar prior to you getting it, but they acted like it was Fort Knox saying they put it in the back and since you were buying it, I could not even see it to get the lay of the land to report on to you.

Oh well, the one I checked out needed a neck adjustment and refret to make it a decent player. I could not see spending the 2k they wanted for it knowing that.

 I got this from a private owner in Oklahoma. No adjustments or fret work needed.

Here's a video of him playing it before he decided to sell it. He's a great player.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone!

Here are a few updated shots since adding part of a vintage vibrola. I still prefer it strung as a wraptail so I scored this part just for looks and to cover the holes. I'm not going to add a B5 just to cover those holes, though. ;)
